Scripture teaches in the Gospel of John “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13 NKJV).

There is so much to unpack in these two verses. Let me just put this out there… One of my pet peeves is when I hear preachers today quoting from the KJV. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13 KJV)

Words are everything

Sons of God, seriously? This really skeeves me out. Why you may ask? It’s all about the language. Words have meaning, and meaning becomes concretized in the psyche. Words matter! What you say, is what you create! So when you read/teach/preach from an archaic translation of the bible with the antiquated language you are perpetuating the “isms,” sexism in particular. I’m just sayin. Ok, rant is over, back to my point.

Those of us who received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, now have the right to become “children” of God. How? It’s not by the will of the flesh, nor by the will of man. Scripture says, “but of God.” The word “of” in the Greek is “ek” and means “from, or out of.” But there’s more… “who were born” the word born “gennao” in Greek is the key to it all. It means: to procreate (properly, of the father, but by extension of the mother). In other words, it takes two to make a baby or child, naturally but most importantly spiritually.

It’s more than just a feeling

We know we have God our Father, but where my heavenly Mother be? Where She at? Why don’t we have a heavenly mother? Or do we? Many Christians feel like they are missing something, but can’t put their finger on what that something is. It’s gonna take a minute to show you how to recognize Mother Holy Spirit in scripture. Just know that I feel your pain because it was for a long time my pain as well. Sometimes I feel like a motherless child in the spirit realm. That’s why I sing, “Sometimes I feel like a motherless child, a long way from home.

  1. Yesterday, I listened to a sermon where the pastor said …Holy Spirit was the Father of Jesus! I wanted to jump through the computer screen and smack him on the forehead with my slipper! If God the Father is Jesus’ Father, how could Holy Spirit be His Father also?? Since when can two men make a baby and birth one? We were created in the image and likeness of God, male and female—on earth as it is in Heaven! Don’t be fooled! The Godhead is NOT all masculine! Holy Spirit is feminine and I am NOT a motherless child!! Show Yourself Mama Holy Spirit. You will not be hidden any longer!
